He has battled throat cancer with his family beside him. We’re so excited to announce he is cancer free. Please read more about his journey. Missouri Magazine: Tell us your role at First State Bank Mortgage
Michael Lasson: I am a Senior Loan Officer, I started with this group of professionals March of 2006.
Missouri Magazine: What do you love most about living in Missouri ?
Michael Lasson: I love the small town feel that our community has and how everyone is willing to help out anywhere they are needed.
Missouri Magazine: How long have you worked or lived in Missouri?
Michael Lasson: I have lived in Missouri since 1993 and have worked in the mortgage industry since 2000.
Missouri Magazine: What is your favorite restaurant?
Michael Lasson: There are so many favorites of mine depending on what I am in the mood for….The Locally owned Restaurants at Lake of the Ozarks are who I support quite often.
Missouri Magazine: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Michael Lasson: I love visiting Nashville, TN, because of the live music and the people.
Missouri Magazine: How big is your family?
Michael Lasson: Michelle and I have been married for 21 years, have 6 grown children and 9 grandchildren.
Missouri Magazine: What is something on your bucket list?
Michael Lasson: To someday own a Condo in Florida or Nashville
Missouri Magazine: What are your family’s favorite activities?
Michael Lasson: I love camping and just getting together at our house to BBQ with the kids and grandkids
Missouri Magazine: Where can someone find you when you are not at work?
Michael Lasson: Camping or hanging out with grandkids
Missouri Magazine: What do you consider your greatest professional achievement?
Michael Lasson: I truly love my Job, I really enjoy assisting people purchase their new Home at the Beautiful Lake of the Ozarks, so I would say my job with First State Bank Mortgage. Personally I think my Marriage and raising our kids with my wife Michelle is a really good achievement.
Missouri Magazine: Do you have a favorite local charity?
Michael Lasson: Lake of the Ozarks is a very giving community, and is always helping their own. I love giving to as many as I can.
Missouri Magazine: What are some of your local favorite places?
Michael Lasson: I like to eat good food, therefore, I frequent several of the locally owned businesses here at Lake of the Ozarks.
Missouri Magazine: What is your favorite quote?
Michael Lasson: It is what it is / It’s all about the end prize
Missouri Magazine: What is your favorite music?
Michael Lasson: 70’s County and anything 80’s.
Missouri Magazine: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
Michael Lasson: I moved here from Chicago in 1993, met my wife in 1996, we got married in 1999 and joined our families together. We have raised 6 beautiful children and we are blessed with 9 grandchildren, at this time.
In December of 2018, I was diagnosed with Throat Cancer…WOW, what a game changer! We came home, discussed everything as a family and decided to hit the treatment head on and that’s what we did. We fought together as a family and we beat it. In June of 2019, we were told that we are now cancer free. The treatment was rough and my daughter had shirts made for all of us that said It’s all about the End Prize! That’s why we did it, we knew what the end prize was going to be so we fought hard. I am blessed to have such a huge support team behind me. My wife went with me to every single treatment and Doctor’s appointment, my kids kept in constant contact with me, and my grandkids called me a lot to just ask me how I was doing and if the cancer was gone yet. I could not have done it without my family.
