Chiefs defeat Texans 51-31, now one win from Super Bowl

CHIEFS SET TO HOST AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME FOR SECOND-CONSECUTIVE YEAR: With last nights 51-31 win over the Houston Texans, the Chiefs are set to host the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Championship Game at Arrowhead Stadium for the second year in a row. This marks the first time that Kansas City will make an appearance in back-to-back AFC Championship Games.

CHIEFS RALLY TIES FOR FOURTH-LARGEST POSTSEASON COMEBACK IN NFL HISTORY: Following a 24-point deficit to start the second quarter of today’s game, the Chiefs rallied to defeat the Texans, 51-31. The 24-point rally is tied for the fourth-largest comeback in a playoff game in NFL history, behind Buffalo’s 35-point comeback in 1993, Indianapolis’ 28-point comeback in 2014 and New England’s 25-point rally in Super Bowl LI. The Chiefs’ 28 unanswered points in the second quarter are tied for the third-most points scored by a team in the second quarter of a playoff game in the postseason in NFL history.

KECLE COMES UP BIG: TE Travis Kelce scored three receiving touchdowns in today’s game, the most receiving touchdowns scored in a postseason game in Chiefs history. Kelce scored on five-, six- and five-yard touchdown passes from QB Patrick Mahomes, all coming in the second quarter. He becomes the first player in the Super Bowl era to record three receiving touchdowns in a single quarter in a postseason game. His five-career receiving touchdowns in the postseason are the most by any Chiefs player in franchise history are the second-most overall touchdowns.

Kelce recorded 134 receiving yards in today’s game, marking his third 100+ yard receiving performance in the postseason. He is the only Chiefs player in franchise history to record more than one 100+ yard receiving game. Kelce’s 134 receiving yards in today’s game give him 508 career postseason receiving yards, the most in franchise history and his 134 yards are the third-most in a single game in Chiefs postseason history.
