MAHOMES EXTENDS FRANCHISE RECORDS: QB Patrick Mahomes completed 24 of 34 passes for 243 yards in tonight’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers. Mahomes finished the game with two touchdown passes and a 110.3 passer rating. This marks his 11th game of the season with a 100.0+ passer rating, the most in a single season in franchise history. His 45 touchdown passes this season are the most in a single-season in Chiefs history. Mahomes’45 touchdown passes through Week 15 are tied for the third-most by any quarterback in league history with QB Tom Brady (45 in 2007). Mahomes is only the sixth player (seventh instance) in NFL history to throw 45 or more passing touchdowns in a single season.

With 243 passing yards in tonight’s game QB Patrick Mahomes now ranks second in the Chiefs record book for single-season passing yards behind QB Trent Green (4,591 in 2004). BERRY MAKES HIS RETURN: Tonight’s Thursday night match up marked S Eric Berry’s return to the field since he was sidelined with an Achilles injury during the 2017 season opener in New England. Berry finished the game with six tackles (four solo).

HOUSTON LOGS 100TH GAME: LB Justin Houston logged his 100th game with the Chiefs in tonight’s matchup. Houston has appeared in 100 games (94 starts) for the Chiefs, recording 369 tackles (310 solo), 76.0 sacks (-438.0 yards), 114 quarterback hits, four interceptions, 32 passes defensed, 13 forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries. His 76.0 sacks rank fourth in team history.

Houston finished tonight’s game with five tackles (two solo), two quarterback hits and 1.5 sacks (-2.5 yards). BENJAMIN MAKES FIRST CHIEFS APPEARANCE: Newly acquired WR Kelvin Benjamin made his first appearance in a Chiefs uniform in tonight’s game. Benjamin finished the game with one reception for 17 yards.

NELSON TAKES IT AWAY: On the Chargers first drive of the game Chiefs CB Steven Nelson picked off Los Angeles QB Philip Rivers at the Chargers 49-yard line, setting up a Kansas City touchdown. Nelson has four interceptions for his career, all coming this season. Nelson finished the game with four tackles (three solo) and three passes defensed.

ROBINSON HAULS IT IN: WR Demarcus Robinson scored his second touchdown of the season on a five-yard touchdown pass from QB Patrick Mahomes. Robinson finished the game with two receptions for seven yards and one touchdown.

FORD DROPS RIVERS: LB Dee Ford dropped QB Philip Rivers for a loss of seven yards in tonight’s game. Ford has a career-high 11.5 sacks (-64.0 yards) this season and 29.0 sacks (-167.5 yards) for his career. Ford finished the game with three tackles (two solo), including one for a loss, and two quarterback hits to go along with his sack.

DARREL WILLIAMS FINDS THE ENDZONE: Undrafted rookie RB Darrel Williams scored his first-career touchdown on his third-career reception, hauling in an 11-yard touchdown pass from QB Patrick Mahomes. Williams finished the game with 13 rushing yards on two attempts and 19 receiving yards on two receptions in addition to his touchdown.

JONES HAS A DAY: DL Chris Jones dropped QB Philip Rivers for 2.5 sacks for a total of -15.5 yards in tonight’s game. This marks Jones’ 10th-consecutive game with a sack and gives him 14.0 sacks (-110.5 yards) for the season. Jones is only the third player in NFL history to have a sack in at least 10 straight games and is the first player in NFL history to record a sack in 10 straight games within a single season. Jones has 22.5 sacks (-171.5 yards) for his career. Jones finished the game with three tackles (two solo), including two for a loss, eight quarterback hits and one pass defensed in addition to his 2.5 sacks.

DAMIEN WILLIAMS RUSHES IN TWICE: RB Damien Williams scored touchdowns on rushes of two- and one-yard in tonight’s game. Williams has tied his single-season career-high with three rushing touchdowns this season, matching his total from the 2016 season. He has 13 career touchdowns (six rushing and seven receiving). Williams has now scored two touchdowns in back-to-back games for the first time in his career. In tonight’s game Williams set career highs in touches (16), scrimmage yards (123) and receiving yards (74) in addition to tying his career-best with two touchdowns.

COLQUITT RISES IN THE RECORD BOOKS: P Dustin Colquitt punted four times for 203 yards (50.8 avg., 45.8 net), landing one inside the 20-yard line in tonight’s game. GONZALEZ ENTERS CHIEFS HALL OF FAME: During tonight’s game the Chiefs inducted former TE Tony Gonzalez into the Chiefs Hall of Fame and enshrined his name in the Ring of Honor in Arrowhead Stadium. Gonzalez is the 48th individual and 44th player to earn this coveted honor. Over 17 seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs (1997-08) and Atlanta Falcons (2009-13) Gonzalez appeared in 270 regular season games with 254 starts, earning 14 Pro Bowl appearances (1999-08, 2010-13) and 10 first- or second-team All-Pro honors from the Associated Press.
