Missouri State Fair | August 8th & 9th Highlights

Opening Day of the Missouri State Fair is tomorrow, Aug. 8, in Sedalia! Join us on Opening Day, Mizzou Day, presented by the University of Missouri. The day offers $7 gate admission for fairgoers age 13 and older, $2 admission for ages 6-12, and free admission for kids 5 and under.

The day’s sponsor, University of Missouri, will offer great exhibits and activities by the University’s colleges and programs each day of the Fair in the MIzzou Central/Mo-Ag Theatre. Buck’s will be selling the popular Tiger Stripe Ice Cream and the Tiger Team Store will have Mizzou apparel. University of Missouri Extension will feature Eat Smart on the Go Cooking Demos daily at 10 a.m., noon, 2 and 4 p.m.

Join us on Friday, Aug. 9, for Missouri Department of Conservation Day at the 2024 Missouri State Fair.

Missouri Department of Conservation will offer great exhibits and the chance to celebrate Smokey Bear’s 80th birthday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sing to Smokey and enjoy sweet treats at 11 a.m. Kids will have the opportunity to make a t-shirt or tote bag, while supplies last.

Here’s a quick glance at the day’s schedule:

  • Free entertainment for all ages including Clay Clear Band at 2 and 4 p.m. and SoulRout at 9 p.m. on the Budweiser Stage; B2wins and Radatz Magic on the Touchstone Energy Stage; Mr. Stinky Feet, Kids Cup By Cup Contest and Steve Gryb, The Pied Piper of Percussion on the Kids Stage, sponsored by Your Local McDonald’s; Finley River Boys and John Cassidy, Comedy Magic Show, on the Superior Sleep Stage, and so much more!
  • Livestock Shows all day including lamb, barrow, poultry and draft mules.
  • Contests all day including floriculture, horseshoe pitching, home economics foods and Show-Me State Tailgate Throwdown Barbecue Contest.
  • Let’s Talk Livestock – Beef Cattle demo – 4 p.m., south of the Coliseum
  • Military Flag Retreat Ceremony honoring Jack Jackson of St. Albans – 5:30 p.m. at the flagpole in front of the Historic Administration Building.
  • Warren Zieders with Wyatt Flores – 7:30 p.m. in the State Fair Grandstand, presented by CFM Insurance; Tickets on sale now. Fireworks display, sponsored by Missouri S&T, and Spectacular Drone Show, sponsored by VISITMO.COM, CFM Insurance, Missouri Department of Conservation and GoNetspeed, immediately following the concert.
