Celebrate Senior Appreciation Day, sponsored by Sedalia Democrat, at the Missouri State Fair on Wednesday, Aug. 14! Thanks to the Sedalia Democrat, adults and seniors can enjoy $2 off gate admission with a special coupon featured on the front page of their newspaper.
Highlights of the day for seniors include activities in the Mathewson Exhibition Center starting at 9 a.m. Vendor exhibits and booths, free Bingo and line dancing lessons will be offered. The Senior Dance Contest will start at 1 p.m. with the awards presentation starting a 4 p.m. Dance categories include Missouri Waltz, Polka, Jitterbug, Two-Step, and Line Dancing. These events and the contest are sponsored by Missouri Association of Area Agencies on Aging and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.
A Day of Dancing will be in the Lowell Mohler Assembly Hall. Come watch dancers strut their stuff from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be square dancing, cue round dancing, line dancing and clogging.
Bothwell Regional Health Center will offer blood pressure screenings and Missouri Rehabilitation Services for the Blind will offer free vision screenings for seniors in the Senior Lounge on this day.

- Prizes – Seniors, stop by the Senior Lounge and get a ticket good for a chance to win a prize! The drawing takes place at 3 p.m. You must be present to win.
- Lunch Bunch Admission Deal – Take a break from the workplace and grab your friends/coworkers for lunch at the Fair! Stop by the Lunch Bunch Booth, located at the Centennial entrance ticket booth. Purchase a lunch bunch gate admission ticket for the day’s price starting at 11 a.m., grab lunch and enjoy the Fair for a few hours, and then return to that booth by 2 p.m. to receive a full refund of your admission price.
- Livestock shows and building competitions all day including the 4-H/FFA Rabbit Meat Pen Show, Fastest Fingers contests in the Home Economics Building, Federated Garden Club Show in the Floriculture Building and the “Old and Wow” Tractor and Equipment Show, sponsored by Crown Power and Equipment, east of the Mathewson Exhibition Center; Tractor Parade starts at 2 pm.
- Military Flag Retreat Ceremony honoring Greg McManus of Rogersville – 5:30 p.m. at the flagpole in front of the Historic Administration Building.
- Tauren Wells with Jordan Feliz – 7:30 p.m. in the State Fair Grandstand, presented by CFM Insurance; Tickets on sale now.

Governor’s, Legislators’ & Judges’ Day
Missouri State Fair Governor’s, Legislators’ and Judges’ Day, sponsored by Buckle Up Phone Down, will be held Thursday, Aug. 15.
The Governor’s Ham Breakfast, hosted by Governor Mike Parson, will kick off the morning at 8 a.m. in the Director’s Pavilion. The Breakfast is a traditional gathering of Missouri elected officials, leaders in agriculture and supporters of the State Fair. The event is officially sold out.
A groundbreaking ceremony will be held starting at 10 a.m. at the site of the new State Fair Arena located on the southwest side of the Fairgrounds. The public is invited to attend.

- Thrifty Thursday on the carnival midway – $25 Unlimited Carnival Ride Wristband (savings of $10), Thursday, Aug 15 only. Take advantage of the sensory-friendly time on the midway from noon to 2 p.m.
- Missouri’s First Lady’s Pie Contest, hosted by Teresa Parson – 10 a.m. in the Home Economics Building.
- Missouri Travel Alliance Leisure Travel Trade Show – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Lowell Mohler Assembly Hall. Come enjoy the trade show with booths, travel giveaways, stage performers and historical figures. Free wine and beer tasting, sponsored by Missouri Wines and Anheuser-Busch County Distributing will start at 3 p.m. A legislative press conference will also be held at 3 p.m.
- Livestock shows all day including the No Limits P.I.G. Show, Draft Horse Pony Show and Hitches, sponsored by BTC Bank, and the 4-H/FFA Dairy Steer Show and Commercial Dairy Cattle Show.
- Head over to the Agriculture Building for the Ham and Bacon Demos at 2 and 4 p.m.
- Free entertainment all day for all ages including Cirque Zuma Zuma, sponsored by AOK RVs, and Vincent Baker Hayworth at 4 and 6 p.m. and Members Only at 8 p.m. on the Budweiser Stage.
- Military Flag Retreat Ceremony honoring Charlie Guthrie of Marshall – 5:30 p.m. at the flagpole in front of the Historic Administration Building.
- The State Fair Grandstand, presented by CFM Insurance, will host Ian Munsick with Drake White at 7:30 p.m. Due to hospitalization following a hit and run accident on Aug. 10, Creed Fisher will not be able to perform at the Missouri State Fair. At this time, Fisher’s family is requesting privacy and appreciates fans’ continued thoughts and prayers. Country artist Drake White will now be performing prior to Ian Munsick on Thursday, Aug. 15.
