Outdoor retailers Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s, together with The Harry & Reba Huge Foundation, have granted four young women with $10,000 scholarships to encourage tomorrow’s female leaders in its home states of Missouri and Nebraska. The 2019 Women in Leadership scholarship recipients are:
- Leslie Azwell of Maryland Heights, Missouri
- Sophia Jackson of Nixa, Missouri
- Floreana Cordova-Dickerson of Lincoln, Nebraska
- Meera Nair of Omaha, Nebraska
“We are proud to continue this project with Bass Pro and Cabela’s and offer these four young women support for their higher education goals,” said Jim Huge, director of the Foundation. “This opportunity provides these students from small towns, rural communities and surrounding cities the opportunity to move forward with their education, shaping future female leaders in Missouri and Nebraska for years to come.”
The Women in Leadership scholarship program is part of an initiative by Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s to encourage young women to become tomorrow’s leaders. This is the seventh year Cabela’s and Bass Pro Shops have partnered with The Huge Foundation to award scholarships to deserving students. Since establishing the Women in Leadership scholarship program in 2012, Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s have worked with The Huge Foundation to provide $280,000 in scholarship funding to female high school students in Missouri and Nebraska.
Selected students receive $2,500 each collegiate year for an individual total award of $10,000. Additionally, the scholarship winners have access to personalized educational and career mentoring as well as potential internships and connection to professional networking opportunities.
About The Huge Foundation The Harry & Reba Huge Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit providing scholarships and opportunities for student scholars with the drive and potential to be leaders. Through international student and professional exchange and development programs, students, donors, and teachers are given the chance to expand their view and excel.
Students receive unparalleled personal attention from the Foundation’s founders and leaders, funds that assist with or pay for their education, and the opportunity to bridge their home culture and experiences with different ones across the world. Together, it means that students are given an even rarer chance – to make a difference.
