Jameson Picnic Celebrates 135 Years with New Car Show and Commemorative Cookbook

Three-day hometown tradition returns August 6-8 with longtime favorites and two new attractions

JAMESON, MO. – The Jameson Picnic will celebrate its 135th year August 6, 7 and 8, 2026, making it one of Missouri’s longest running annual community events.

This year’s celebration will feature all the familiar activities that have made the picnic a favorite for more than a century, along with two special additions: a new car shos on Saturday August 8 and the debut of a commemorative cookbook, Pies from the Picnic: Celebrating 135 Years of Deliciousness.

“The Jameson Picnic has always been a time for people to reconnect, enjoy the amazing food at our cook shack and celebrate the community we love,” said Jan Duly of the Jameson Lion’s Club. “We are excited to honor 135 years of tradition while also introducing new and added attractions like the car show. We hope former residents, neighboring communities and first-time visitors will all join us!!

The new car show will add another family-friendly attraction to the festivities, and will feature cars, trucks, tractors, and motorcycles on Saturday August 8 beginning after the annual parade and running all afternoon, while the Jim Duly Memorial Poker Run and free games are also planned. Organized by DeLynn Moulin, the hope is the car show will become a new picnic tradition and bring even more visitors to Jameson.

The commemorative cookbook was created to preserve the pie-baking heritage closely associated with the Jameson Picnic and its popular cook shack. It includes 135 recipes, along with picnic history, memories, photographs, and baking tips.

“I wanted the cookbook to be more than a collection of recipes,” said Anne (Foley) Rauth, compiler of Pies from the Picnic. “It is a tribute to all those who have baked, sliced or purchased a slice of pie at the picnic. My hope is that people will use the recipes, remember the stories and pass both along to their own families.”

Visitors will be able to purchase and enjoy homemade pie for only $3/slice, along with other items from the cook shack like the picnic’s famous and popular pork tenderloin sandwiches. As in years past, there will be free entertainment and no cost family friendly activities.

The Jameson Picnic will be held Thursday through Saturday, August 6-8, 2026, in Jameson, Missouri. Copies of Pies from the Picnic: Celebrating 135 Years of Deliciousness will be available for purchase during the picnic while supplies last, and only 135 copies are being printed.
